Teachings of Tantrika Yoga

Anthony Benenati is the creator of TantrikaYoga ® , a culmination of two decades of study and practice in the Hatha Yoga tradition. Anthony’s philosophy is simple; fit the yoga to the student, not the student to the yoga. He believes that it isn’t about the style of yoga you practice, rather, the effectiveness of that style for your body. Yoga practice should help you transform, not cause more suffering.

A “tantrika” is a student who studies and practices Tantra Yoga. Tantra is a yoga philosophy and is the genesis of all modern yoga as it provided the philosophical foundation upon which Hatha Yoga is built. Before Tantra, the body was thought to be “dirty” and part of the endless cycle of reincarnation. Yogins were not interested in using the body as a vehicle for physical transformation; they were using the body to liberate the soul from it (kaivalya).

A great teacher will draw from a deep knowledge of the different classical styles of yoga and other modalities to construct a path of healing and transformation for their student. Anthony has trained in Kundalini, Ashtanga, Iyengar, Anusara and Viniyoga. He specializes in yoga therapeutics and tailors the practice so your body uses its natural movements to heal itself from pain and suffering. The body is extremely intelligent, and we can learn how to listen and use that information to heal it. Today, yoga has become increasingly popular and the need for highly trained, experienced instructors is essential for navigating the endless sea of choices. The right teacher can lead you on your path to self mastery.
